When you look at this pocket charger, you might be inclined to ask, "Where's the rest of it?" The charger is small. I'm talking iPhone small or a deck of cards small. It's about the size of an iPod classic.

The charger comes with a single cable for charging your gear. The cable has a standard USB plug on one end and the "Gomadic Tip" on the other end -- which is fancy way of saying you can swap out the tip for something else. The two tips included are mini-USB and micro-USB. The mini-USB tip is used when recharging the pocket charger. The micro-USB tip is used when charging your Kindle DX/Kindle Fire/other device.

The pocket charger has five blue LEDs that light up when the pocket charger is charging. The LEDs act like a power gauge. More LEDs mean more power. You connect the mini-USB tip to the pocket charger and the regular USB plug to your computer. The LEDs start flashing as the charger is recharged. Once it's done, all five LEDs will be lit up.

Charging your device is a breeze. Switch the mini-USB tip out for a micro-USB tip, connect the micro-USB tip to your device and the regular USB plug to the pocket charger. Press the black button on the charger and your device is recharged.

That's it. It's a breeze. Gomadic makes it too easy. On average, I get 1-2 full charges from the pocket charger for my Kindle Fire.

To be fair, it's a nice case and is well made. The ability to rotate between portrait and landscape is a nice feature. That said, I am not sure how this case made it through to production in its current design. The rotation is limited to 90 degrees, thus in order to charge the Kindle Fire HD you can't leave the case closed. For me, this is a deal-breaker because I often charge while driving (or flying) and the whole point of the case is to protect the device. This case is being returned.

The keyboard structural quality is very good. Good feel when typing. There is an LED light indicating the keyboard is turned on. The charge cord is 5' which is pretty standard. The leather is thin and light weight which is desirable for compactness. I was really worried that the whole setup would be pretty thick and heavy. I don't want a thick heavy book to carry around or I'd just get a laptop. The letters on the keyboard keys are light gray on black. White on black would be preferable if you type by sight. If you are a tactile typist then probably not a problem. There is no place to hold a capacitive stylist which is a negative.

The keyboard can be removed and the viewing angle of the display adjusted to varying degrees. Adjusting the viewing angle is not possible with the Ionic which we also considered. Another differential is that with the Belkin my wife can use this as a laptop, with the Ionic, you need a flat table surface to support the display.

One important note that I've not found anywhere, even on the Belkin home page (because they don't even list this product) is that the Kindle wakes up when the folio is opened. It also happens to turn on when closed to so the intelligence is not that great but that could be a Kindle issue, not necessarily a Belkin product issue.

I was a little hesitant to spend so much on a screen protector, as there were so many reasonably priced alternatives. However, I was most concerned with protecting the investment I made in the Kindle Fire HD 7", Dolby Audio, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, 32 GB - Includes Special Offers, so I took a chance on the Moshi iVisor XT... and I haven't yet regretted that decision. My Kindle is kept in the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7" Standing Leather Case, Persimmon (will only fit Kindle Fire HD 7"), and I didn't even have to remove the case in order to apply the Moshi screen protector. For those who haven't yet purchased the Kindle Fire HD, the Amazon leather case doesn't touch the screen (except when the cover is closed, of course), so any screen protector that fits within the confines of the actual screen isn't affected by the cover. Applying the screen protector was simple. The screen protector has no adhesive, and it is meant to be removed and periodically cleaned, so even if you don't get a perfect fit the first time, you can keep reapplying until it is properly situated. The Kindle housing around the actual screen is slightly raised, and the screen protector is perfectly sized for the Kindle screen, so it is easy to guide the protector onto the screen without making a mistake. Since there is no adhesive and the screen protector is rather thick, it would be difficult to get bubbles underneath it, but even if air or dust were trapped under the protector, it is super easy to remove, clean, and replace.

Purchased both this case and the Marware Axis case for our new Kindle Fire HD. Each has strengths and weaknesses. For those considering both cases, I'll try to compare them.

() Weight. The Amazon case (AC) is MUCH thinner and lighter than the Marware case. Whether this an advantage or disadvantage depends on several considerations, but the fact remains that the AC adds little to the weight and bulk of the KFHD. The MC swaddles the KFHD in a significantly heavier and bulkier case. Advantage: AC in everyday use.

() Protection. The disadvantage of the MC in terms of weight is balanced by the protection it provides. The MC case is well padded; the AC is not. The MC includes a separate inner plastic shell that increases both shock protection and functionality. (See below.) The MC includes an elastic band to hold the cover closed; the AC relies exclusively on the weak magnetic closure to keep the cover closed. The AC is adequate in this regard but the MC is a sure thing. Advantage: MC

() Functionality. Again, different designs and different choices. Both covers provide for "sleep mode" when closed. The elastic band on the MC makes opening the cover more involved but it also provides a more secure closure and less of a chance that the cover can open when packed in a bag. Advantage: Depends on what's important to you.

The AC provides covers over the KFHD's speakers, and easy to feel button/rocker covers for power and volume. The MC's internal plastic shell provides only cutouts. Advantage: AC. For those who have trouble locating the external buttons, it's a BIG advantage for the AC

I've been an iPad user since the original came out. I also have an iPad 3. I have worked in IT for the past few years so I would say I am pretty good with technology and fancy new devices. With that introduction out of the way, I will be reviewing key points that I have seen touched upon in other reviews. Here goes...

BUILD
The device feels nice and solid. I'm a little surprised at how heavy it is, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The rubberized backing is always nice for added grip. It's not as nice as say unibody aluminum, but it's not $500 either.

SCREEN
The screen is fantastic. But my problem is the same as when iPad got Retina Display, other than the OS, most apps look rather pixelated. A lot of the games I tried are not high definition, at least not high enough to look smooth on this screen. Hopefully apps get updated to higher resolutions.

LOCK SCREEN ADS
Yeah there are ads on my lock screen. I'm not sure why this is such a big deal. How much time do people really spend looking at the lock screen? The first thing I thought when I saw the ads is WOW the pictures are really crisp! The ads are there to subsidize some of the $200 price tag. I might pay the $15 to get rid of them so I can customize it, but I might not. I feel like this has been blown out of proportion by other customers.

SOUND
The sound from the speakers is great. Much better than you would get from more expensive devices, very crisp and clean. I have the official Amazon case on and it has not affected the sound at all. Nothing much else to say, I doubt anyone will complain about this.

CRASHING
I've had two apps crash on opening. I don't know if it is the app or the OS. It's probably somewhere in the middle. Again, not a big deal for me....
